Chapter 31 Hat Trick
Chapter 31 Hat Trick
Sunday morning.
I went to Zhong Xiaoqin's house yesterday, but Zhong Xiaoqin wasn't home the next day, so Chen Yu drove over to pick up Wang Wenwen himself.
When Wang Wenwen saw Chen Yu, she put down her luggage, rushed over and hugged him, causing Chen Yu to stumble back three steps.
"Brother Xiaoyu, I miss you so much! I wanted to go back on the first day I got back, but my mom wouldn't let me! She said I'd already taken leave, so I should stay a couple more days." Wang Wenwen said, smiling at Chen Yu.
"Your mom must miss you too!" Holding Wang Wenwen's hand, Chen Yu walked over and picked up the suitcase Wang Wenwen had thrown away with his other hand. "Let's go, Xiaoqin isn't home today, let's eat out!"
"I want to go to that couples' restaurant you guys went to!"
Chen Yu hadn't expected that the two women would tell each other everything, without any secrets. "That restaurant requires reservations, and it's already this late, we probably won't be able to reserve a table."
"I've already made a reservation. Xiaoqin has eaten here with you before, so I want to go eat here too!"
"Then let's go."
The restaurant staff still remembered Chen Yu. It hadn't been long, and Zhong Xiaoqin was very beautiful with an infectious smile, so the staff member also remembered Chen Yu. But today, when Chen Yu came again, he clearly wasn't with the same person he'd brought before, which was a bit infuriating!
Chen Yu had already been here once, so he wasn't particularly curious about the restaurant. Instead, he chatted with Wang Wenwen about his hometown.
“I visited your godmother at your house. Did you know she caught a cold a few days ago?” Wang Wenwen said.
"She didn't tell me. How are you? Is your cold better?"
Wang Wenwen explained, "I'm almost better. I still have a slightly nasal voice and a mild cough, but no other symptoms."
"I'll call her when I get back," Chen Yu noted. It's said that once a boy grows into a man, he becomes like a kite with its string cut, only to be glimpsed from afar as to where it has flown off to. Even in his second life, Chen Yu hadn't escaped the realm of a little boy, and he didn't have much to talk about with his mother on the phone.
"Xiaoqin told me she's not coming tonight! Do you want to take me to see a horror movie?" Wang Wenwen suddenly asked Chen Yu.
“You’re not afraid? I’ve heard about it. I’ve seen horror movies before, but you always watch them as comedies.” Chen Yu had heard his mother, Sun Suying, talk about Wang Wenwen. The mother and son didn’t have many topics to discuss, so they rarely used Wang Wenwen to fill the gaps.
"Then let's get straight to the point when we get home!" Wang Wenwen was even more anxious than Chen Yu.
The next morning.
Zhong Xiaoqin stood at the doorway and slowly pushed open the master bedroom door. The room was quiet, with only the soft sounds of breathing and the gentle rustling of the blankets. Her gaze gradually fell on the bed, and then her eyes widened.
Inside the covers, two naked people clung tightly to each other, clearly still lost in a sweet dream. Their bodies were pressed together, as if they were one. However, the sound of the door opening shattered the tranquility, startling them awake.
Both of them opened their eyes at the same time, their gazes filled with confusion and shyness. Even though Chen Yu was nearly sixty years old across his two lifetimes, his face still couldn't help but blush.
"Xiaoqin, why are you up so early today?" Chen Yu asked curiously.
"Young Master, it's getting late, almost ten o'clock." Zhong Xiaoqin saw that the two of them were dressed and walked to the window to open the curtains.
Sunlight streamed into the room, so bright that it was hard to open one's eyes.
"What time did you two stay up last night?" Although he had already decided to share some of his happiness with Wang Wenwen, he still felt a little uncomfortable when it came time to face reality, and his tone was tinged with bitterness.
"Hey, Xiaoqin, have you eaten?" Chen Yu scratched his head, abruptly changing the subject.
“I knew you wouldn’t have time to eat, so I bought you some food outside.” Zhong Xiaoqin pointed to the living room, then looked at Wang Wenwen, “Wenwen, we were planning to go to the company today, are you still able to go? Why don’t you rest for a day and go tomorrow?”
"It's okay, I'm fine." Wang Wenwen is exceptionally talented, and even though it was her first time, she was still able to endure it and recovered quickly. After only half a night's sleep, the pain was almost gone.
Even so, Chen Yu still let Wang Wenwen rest for half a day. The three of them didn't arrive at the company until 3 p.m.
When Chen Yu first arrived at the company, the lax work atmosphere made him frown. None of the employees knew him, and no one cared what he did.
Walking to the manager's office, I knocked on the door. Xu Yanan, who was temporarily managing the company, called out from inside, "Come in!"
"Manager Xu, we meet again." Chen Yu didn't show anything on his face as he led Zhong Xiaoqin and Wang Wenwen into the manager's office.
"Mr. Chen, you've finally arrived!" Xu Yanan stood up and walked quickly to the door, raising her hand to shake hands with Chen Yu.
Without wasting words, Chen Yu went straight to the point: "Let's call the management team to the conference room for a meeting."
"Okay, Mr. Chen, I'll inform them right away."
Ten minutes later, almost everyone who was supposed to be there had arrived in the conference room. Chen Yu glanced around and, seeing that most of the people who were supposed to be there had arrived, didn't wait for the few who were dawdling any longer.
The appointments were announced directly: Wang Wenwen was appointed General Manager, and Zhong Xiaoqin was appointed Finance Director. Most of the staff in the Human Resources and Finance departments remained unchanged, while in other departments, anyone on Zhong Xiaoqin and Wang Wenwen's blacklist was dismissed.
Some people know Zhong Xiaoqin and Wang Wenwen; they joined the company about six months ago, but they're still relatively unknown. Zhong Xiaoqin, in particular, is said to be very diligent and often helps her colleagues.
But to everyone's surprise, these two were actually spies sent by the new boss. Who in the family would believe that? Someone actually sent someone to work as a low-level employee in this company for over six months just to buy it out! Isn't that espionage?
Chen Yu was well aware of what the management was thinking. In the workplace, you need to be quick-witted and have sharp eyes; otherwise, you'll be used as a pawn by others! Chen Yu estimated that trust within the company might become nonexistent in the future.
The management team was largely prepared for this; those valued by the previous boss might not be valued by the new one. Chen Yu wasn't worried about them leaving. In Shanghai, there were plenty of truly talented people. With enough money, any talent could be found!
After announcing the appointments and dismissals at a company meeting, Chen Yu left the meeting room. Wang Wenwen followed the previously agreed-upon plan, first winning people over with a rosy future promise, the main filling of which was Chen Yu's money. She believed that by investing heavily, she could attract talent and ensure that no one would be unwilling to work.
After painting a rosy picture, Wang Wenwen assigned the first task: acquiring shares in the game "Three Kingdoms Kill". This company was interesting; it had been lukewarm at best, but consistently profitable. Theoretically, Chen Yu needed to sell these shares before 2016. Chen Yu had many similar ideas, but he didn't want to be preoccupied with these trivial matters. Wang Wenwen managing the company would relieve him of these worries, allowing him to relax and enjoy life.
