Chapter 209 Heavy rain is coming
Chapter 209 Heavy rain is coming
The growth of farmland and fisheries brought welcome changes to life in the valley. Food supplies gradually became secure, and living conditions improved significantly. Just as everyone was enjoying a gradual stabilization, a sudden rainstorm disrupted the peace, presenting a new challenge to the team.
Heavy rain hits
It was a gloomy afternoon when Ye Wan and Xie Linchuan were leading their team in inspecting the crops in their fields. Suddenly, dark clouds filled the distant sky, thunder rumbled, and then heavy rain began to pour down. The rain poured down with such force, like an invisible dragon descending upon them, instantly submerging the earth.
Ye Wan looked up at the sky, a sense of unease rising within her. "Hurry back! Everyone, get out of the rain!" She quickly directed the team to evacuate towards the campsite, but the rain had arrived so suddenly that many people were unable to leave in time. A sense of foreboding gripped her, and she recalled the various challenges she had faced in nature.
Xie Linchuan looked at Ye Wan beside him and felt a little nervous. Without waiting for her to say anything more, he quickly led a group of team members back to the valley's canals and fishing grounds to check the situation.
Shortly after they left, torrential rain transformed the entire valley. The streams within the valley rose rapidly, the water sweeping in like a ferocious beast. The soil surrounding the canal began to loosen, and the once sturdy fences were gradually washed away by the fierce currents. The torrential rain did not stop, but instead intensified, bringing unforeseen disasters.
Canals were damaged and fish farm fences were washed away
Ye Wan rushed to the canal, and the sight before her made her heart tighten. The once sturdy canal had been shattered by the torrential rain, sweeping away the soil and leaving deep scars. The stream was also flowing much faster than usual, and the rushing water had begun to flood into the farmland, threatening the newly emerging crops.
"Hurry, let's go check out the fishing grounds!" Ye Wan shouted as she led some of her team members to the fishing grounds. Her heart began to beat faster, as she had a premonition that the fishing grounds might also suffer heavy losses.
When they arrived at the fishing grounds, the scene stunned everyone. The once stable fence had been washed away, and scattered wood and rocks had made the waters of the fishing grounds chaotic. The fry within were also greatly affected by the turbulent current. Some had swum out of their original range, and even a few schools of fish had drifted away.
Xie Linchuan was already directing the team members to carry out repair work at one side of the fish farm. When he saw Ye Wan approaching, he quickly came over and said, "Sister Ye, the damage to the canal and fence is considerable. We must repair it as soon as possible, otherwise the fish will be lost and the water source for the farmland will be further damaged."
Ye Wan took a deep breath. Despite her inner anxiety, she remained calm. "First, we'll repair the canal to ensure the water flow to the farmland is not disrupted again. Then, we'll address the fish farm fences and reinforce all facilities." She knew that the current situation required everyone's concerted efforts to effectively control the damage.
Reconstruction and restoration
The torrential rain continued unabated, and the air in the valley was damp and heavy, the scent of earth and moisture intertwined to create an oppressive atmosphere. However, faced with the difficulties ahead, the team members refused to retreat. Ye Wan and Xie Linchuan led the team, splitting into two groups and quickly commencing repair work.
First, everyone focused on repairing the canal. Due to the heavy rain, the soil around the canal had loosened, and in some areas, the water had overflowed its original path. Ye Wan and Xie Linchuan led the team, using their tools to dig into the soil and reinforce the loosened areas. Meanwhile, other team members were diverting water upstream to prevent further water from entering the farmland. Although the repair process was arduous, everyone threw themselves into the work without hesitation, knowing that if the repairs were not expedited, the crops and the survival of the entire team would be threatened.
At the fish farm, Xie Linchuan personally led a team to restock the scattered fencing timbers and reinforce the surrounding fences. To prevent further loss of fry, they added several protective nets to the existing structure, ensuring the fish could grow safely within its boundaries. Other members of the team were responsible for retrieving any lost fry and temporarily relocating them to a more stable area, pending the restoration of the fences before returning them to their original location.
The restoration work was incredibly difficult. The torrential rain was relentless, and the slippery mud and heavy timbers made movement slow and laborious. Yet, no one on the team paused, their work in perfect harmony and a collaborative approach, ensuring every detail was meticulously addressed.
Working together to return to normal
As the sky gradually darkened, despite the torrential rain, the restoration work finally showed results. The canal was gradually restored to its original state, and the fence was reinforced. Although the whole process was exhausting, everyone felt a deep sense of accomplishment: they had used their own strength to protect the fruits of their hard work.
When the last fence was built, Ye Wan and Xie Linchuan stood at the edge of the fishing ground, looking at the waters that had once been in chaos due to heavy rain. Now order had been restored, and the anxiety in their hearts gradually subsided.
"Fortunately, we did not give up. Although this rainstorm brought great challenges, our team's efforts were not in vain." Xie Linchuan looked around and sighed.
Ye Wan nodded and smiled, "Every challenge is a test for our team. As long as we work together, nothing can defeat us."
She turned around and looked at the restored farmland, her eyes filled with determination. "We can face any difficulties. The days ahead will only get better."
Although the rainstorm caused considerable losses, it also made the team more united and stronger. Facing the challenges of nature, they never backed down, because they knew that every repair and every effort would make them more resilient and mature.
