Man in the Ark: Revitalizing Kazdel

Chapter 511 Current Status of the Northern Border of Kazdel

Chapter 511 Current Status of the Northern Border of Kazdel

At the largest border crossing in northern Kazdel, the arrival windows in the service hall were packed with people, with long queues stretching out the door and seemingly endless.

The group consisted mostly of civilians seeking temporary refuge in Kazdel. The entire society was thrown into turmoil by the aftermath of the Far North incident, and the army group imposed a high-pressure regime within its territory, causing energy and food prices to rise daily.

The lives of the lower classes are becoming increasingly difficult. In order to survive the harsh winter, they have no choice but to leave their homes and flee with their families to the nearest neighboring country.

Kazdel, untouched by natural disasters and undergoing rapid development, became the best option for refugees from eastern Ursus. Compared to hunger and cold, the terrifying rumors surrounding the Sarkaz were clearly insignificant.

For them, who have struggled to make ends meet since birth, there is nothing left to lose except for their lives, which they don't know when they will end.

If there was anything truly precious, it was the worn-out cotton-padded clothes they wore to barely keep warm, the grain seeds they held close to their chests, or the tools they used for survival. These were the foundation upon which they began their new lives after setting foot on unfamiliar land.

“I heard there are many construction sites in Kazdel. I wonder if they are still hiring. I can do the work of three people.”

A well-built young man from Ursus crossed his arms and showed off his impressive biceps to a passerby he met on the street.

"Stop bragging. Someone like you, who can't even read a few words, might not even be considered a good match." His companion curled his lip in disdain, pointing out the most crucial issue without reservation: none of them spoke the Sarkaz language.

Throughout the entire immigration process, I relied on signs and the assistance of staff to follow the steps and eventually obtained my entry certificate without really understanding what was going on.

The group had absolutely no idea where to go next. However, they had heard that outside the business hall, there were often so-called "enthusiastic fellow villagers" who would approach those who were new to the area and clueless.

They act incredibly warm and friendly, helping fellow villagers find accommodation and jobs to quickly settle down. Then they start taking a monthly cut of their earnings until the villagers are settled and free from their control—they're nothing more than a group of greedy, bloodsucking leeches.

"Finding some manual labor shouldn't be a problem. I've worked with a group of Sarkaz miners before and learned a few basic Sarkaz phrases. Leave the finding accommodation to me..."

"Why didn't you say so sooner? You made me make a fool of myself all the way here," the Ursus youth said, putting his arm around his companion's shoulder.

"There's nothing I can do. I can only speak, not read or write, and my accent is too complicated. There are many times when I can't understand what those Sarkaz are saying."

The complaining companion shrugged helplessly; he only had a superficial understanding of the Sarkaz language. Moreover, it was his first time in Kazdel, and like everyone else, he knew absolutely nothing about the country.

"It's getting late, let's find a place to spend the night first, and we can talk about work later."

"Okay, I'll ask around the area if there are any cheap campsites where the three of us can sleep together and it will be warmer."

The three of them discussed their initial plan and headed toward the square where the crowd was gathering, hoping to learn some useful information.

"Buzzing..." A low, strange sound came from afar. The three people, like the other passersby, all looked up in the direction from which the sound came.

A spaceship, far larger than a large land-based warship, forcefully entered their field of vision, shattering their worldview.
