Chapter 777: Siege
Chapter 777: Siege
Villain Ch 777. Siege
Allen let out a sigh, his shoulders slumping slightly. "I guess that’s why I’m a soloist," he admitted with a shrug, his voice tinged with resignation. It wasn’t that he didn’t appreciate Red_King’s perspective, but rather that he found himself in a predicament when it came to teamwork.
He mulled over Red_King’s words, realizing that perhaps his tendency to work alone stemmed from a deeper issue. While he had made efforts to cooperate with the group, he couldn’t shake the feeling of unease that came with teaming up with players whose fighting styles and abilities were unfamiliar to him.
Unlike when he first formed his main team, this situation presented a new challenge—one that required adaptability and trust in his companions.
However, there was another layer to Allen’s reluctance to fully engage with the group. It was because he couldn’t expose his real identity. It was a secret that compelled him to keep his distance and limit the information he shared with Red_King and the others.
After all, trust was a fragile commodity in the game and Allen knew that revealing his skills or informations too much could jeopardize everything he had worked for.
In truth, Allen’s desire to hunt alone with Azura stemmed from more than just a desire to test her skills. But who would have thought it would be a full team hunt like this.
"But I think maybe that’s because Godlike isn’t used to hunting with us," Father^Alex suddenly interjected, his voice cutting through the tense atmosphere. The others turned to him, their curiosity piqued by his unexpected comment.
"I’ve hunted with his team before," Father^Alex continued, his tone serious and thoughtful. "And they can work together well. They can handle the mobs just fine. But they’re indeed not fans of hitting one monster in a group like we usually do. They prefer to divide their tasks," he explained, his brows furrowing as he recalled his past experiences.
"I think three people is the maximum for fighting a monster," Father^Alex remarked, his expression thoughtful. "Two is the most common," he added, his voice tinged with uncertainty as he reflected on the dynamics of previous encounters.
"Well, that’s an interesting insight," Red_King remarked, leaning forward slightly. "So, you’re saying that Godlike and his team have a different approach to hunting?"
Father^Alex nodded, his expression serious. "Exactly," he confirmed. "While they’re undoubtedly skilled, their tactics differ from ours. Instead of charging headfirst into battle, they prefer to divide their tasks and coordinate their efforts strategically."
Arcana’s brow furrowed as he processed Father^Alex’s explanation. "So, what you’re saying is that they prioritize efficiency and coordination over brute force?" he clarified, seeking further clarification.
Father^Alex nodded in agreement. "That’s one way to put it," he affirmed. "They understand the importance of teamwork and communication, but they execute it in a way that’s more methodical and calculated. It’s a different approach, but it’s proven to be effective for them."
"Is that kind of team even real?" Arcana blurted out, his tone tinged with disbelief. Red_King shared a similar sentiment, but he refrained from voicing his skepticism aloud. After all, he knew Father^Alex was speaking the truth. He was his trusted friend after all. Explore hidden tales at novelhall.Côm
Azura shifted uneasily, her eyes darting from one shadow to the next. "Any ideas?" she asked, her voice tinged with urgency. "We just entered this place like ten minutes ago. It would look stupid if we died and had to return to our save point after all the progress we’ve made."
Bored Hunter nodded in agreement, his grip tightening on his bow. "Should we just retreat?" he suggested, his voice tinged with desperation.
But before anyone could respond, Greatest Healer interjected with a grim warning. "They’re behind us too," he said, his tone grave. "Our way out is closed."
The realization sank in, and a sense of dread washed over the group. Trapped between the monsters lurking ahead and the ones lurking behind, they were faced with a dire situation. Panic threatened to take hold as they realized the gravity of their predicament.
"Oh God..." Bored Hunter whimpered, his voice trembling with fear.
Red_King clenched his jaw, his mind racing as he tried to formulate a plan. "We need to stay calm," he said, his voice firm despite the fear gnawing at his insides. "Panicking won’t help us. We need to think rationally and find a way out of this mess."
"We need to break through," Allen, who had been silent, finally spoke, his voice calm but resolute. "Two o’clock. There is only one monster there. We just need to knock it out and pass it," he instructed, his eyes focused on the target ahead.
The others immediately followed his gaze, their expressions shifting from worry to determination as they spotted the lone monster Allen had identified. It was a small glimmer of hope amidst the looming threat of the surrounding horde.
"But what if the others chase us? Wouldn’t that be worse?" Father^Alex expressed his concern, his brows furrowed with worry.
Allen pondered for a moment before responding, his tone steady and reassuring. "You two can use your Barrier skills and create the transparent walls to block their path between the two big trees over there," he suggested, gesturing toward the designated area. "If it couldn’t stop them, at least it would be enough to slow them down. After reaching a safer place, we can face the monsters one by one.
It should be easier to deal with them," he explained, his voice tinged with confidence.
The others nodded in understanding, recognizing the logic behind Allen’s plan.
Arcana, now positioned at the forefront of the group, took charge of the situation with a determined expression. "Are you guys ready?" he asked, his voice firm and resolute.
The others responded with nods of affirmation, their eyes reflecting a mix of apprehension and readiness.
With a final glance exchanged between them, Arcana initiated the countdown. "On the count of three," he declared, his voice steady and commanding. "One. Two. Three."
