Chapter 603 The Arrangement of the Divine Corpse
Chapter 603 The Arrangement of the Divine Corpse
A word to awaken the dreamer.
Tang Zijun and Tania both subconsciously raised their heads and looked at the dark ceiling.
Yes, if the Star God fell here, then not only the ceiling, but the entire castle would cease to exist, and even Crimson Maple City would be destroyed by that enormous energy impact.
So here's the question: if this isn't the site of Ilúvatar's first fall, where did the pool end up, and who moved it to this location?
The answer to this question doesn't seem too difficult to come up with, after all, this castle used to have an owner.
"Count Red Leaf..." Scáthach uttered the name.
"Tanya, if you descended to the mortal realm after making a deal with me, then you must not have been in this world for very long, right? How did you find this place?" Tang Zijun suddenly asked.
"It wasn't long. Because I found myself near you using the coordinates you gave me, I don't really know where I am. The continent is so vast. I only remember opening my eyes to find myself in a forest—the forest outside the city," Tania said after a moment's thought. "I encountered many corrupted red-robed undead, and I only escaped thanks to my remaining strength. I wanted to find a populated place to rest, but I sensed a faint divine power. I thought it was you, so I came looking for you."
"You mean, because you sensed divine power, you misunderstood that it was emanating from me, and thus stepped into this dead city alone?" Tang Zijun's lips twitched.
"I was so panicked at the time that I didn't think much. All I could think about was who you were and why you were in such a lousy place," Tanya said, sticking out her tongue.
Looking at the somewhat dazed Tanya, Tang Zijun couldn't for a moment determine her intelligence level. She just felt that this little girl had actually become the God of Merchants, and the laws of this world were truly unbelievable.
Taking a deep breath, Tang Zijun asked again, "So, this Star God had already fallen here before you came down, right? And when you arrived, this place had already become a nest for crawling pleasure creatures?"
"Is that so..." Tanya nodded slightly. "I was quite surprised when I came here, although I'm not very familiar with Lady Ilúvatar... As for the crawling pleasure creature, it seems to have followed me here. I don't know where its true form is, but it must have sensed my presence in the forest before it appeared."
"That doesn't make sense. If the creature that brings pleasure to crawling is a later arrival, why would Ilúvatar's wounds still bear the tainted power?" Tang Zijun asked, crossing her arms in confusion as she turned to look at Scáthach.
"Perhaps it's because this wasn't Ilúvatar's first fall. If I remember correctly, Ilúvatar's fall occurred near the seal of the Creeping Pleasure, and thus the seal was impacted, allowing the Creeping Pleasure to release its power and corrupt the pool." Scáthach turned and pointed outside the room, continuing, "I don't know if you've noticed, but the castle's construction is quite unique. Almost every part is covered with magic circles and runes, and they're mostly mental defenses—very targeted."
“I noticed that,” Tanya nodded. “It seems this was specifically designed to fight the Great Old Ones. While the runes here can't resist the corruption, they can evade the Great Old Ones’ ‘vision.’ That’s what I’ve been looking for, which is why I’ve been hiding here.” “It seems that’s the problem,” Scáthach said. “Count Redleaf was probably the first to discover the fallen Star God. He immediately sent people to secretly bring it back and built this underground altar in an attempt to reawaken Ilúvatar.”
"But his actions attracted the attention of the crawling pleasure creature, which originally wanted to escape by corrupting Ilúvatar's body, but Count Redleaf ruined its plan, so it chased Count Redleaf all the way to the Ghost Mist Forest near Maple City."
"That explains it all." Tang Zijun adjusted his glasses and said with a frown. "The undead in the Blood Plains, the red-robed ghosts in the Ghost Mist Forest, and the Blood Cultists over at the mine—it's all the work of the Creeping Pleasure Being. It lost the location of Ilúvatar's divine corpse and could only send its followers to search for it on a large scale in this area."
"That's right, I'm afraid Earl Redleaf fled for this very reason. In such a chaotic world, being targeted by an Old One is no good," Scáthach continued, picking up where Tang Zijun left off. "Perhaps it was because he simply couldn't hold on any longer that he abandoned the city and left." "However, he left Ilúvatar behind."
After he finished speaking, the hall fell silent once again.
They have now figured out the ins and outs of everything, but the matter is not over yet.
"We can't leave the pool here. That thing outside already knows about this place. If we leave it unchecked, it will eventually break through the runic protection here," Tania suddenly said.
"Of course we can't leave the Society here, and to be honest, I don't want to keep that guy outside either... but we can't just openly transport this Star God back to Black City like this." Tang Zijun glanced at Scáthach with a hint of something.
Scáthach nodded knowingly. "The faith in the gods cannot be broken. If mortals see Ilúvatar's corpse, they will likely collapse, and then those all-pervasive evils will have an even easier time invading their minds."
"What should we do then?"
Scáthach didn't speak, but looked at Tang Zijun with an inquiring gaze.
Tang Zijun sighed. "Forget about the real world. The Demon Surveillance Bureau isn't prepared for this yet, and who knows what kind of impact it would have if we brought this thing there? Its energy is too complex."
"And the Mirror World?" Scáthach asked again.
"That's possible, but I'm more interested in understanding the energy composition of this Star God." Tang Zijun pointed to the massive wound and continued, "Whether it's the erosion of nightmares or the corruption of the Great Old Ones, this is the best example, isn't it? If we can figure these things out, perhaps we can find a way to defeat them."
"It's useless," Tanya shook her head. "The gods have spent countless hours studying this power, but they have all failed. This power is too chaotic and filled with nothingness, as if everything has become meaningless..."
"Nothing is meaningless; the gods may simply not have found the right method yet."
Upon hearing this, Scáthach looked at Tang Zijun. "But the capabilities we currently possess are probably insufficient to support your research, and I recall you're not exactly a scholar specializing in research, are you?"
"The real world and the mirror world certainly don't provide a suitable research environment, and I certainly don't possess any advanced knowledge, but..." Tang Zijun raised an eyebrow. "What if it were an ultimate intelligent being who has seen through the truth of the world and is madly pursuing eternity?" "The Gods of the Era?" Scáthach was taken aback.
Her brows furrowed immediately. "Are you crazy?! You saw what that guy did in the wasteland, don't tell me you're planning to hand this over to him for research."
"Why not?" Tang Zijun asked in a deep voice. "Right now, only it has enough computing power to analyze all of this. You've survived in the wasteland for so many years and have fought against it countless times behind the scenes. You should know better than me how much potential an artificial intelligence has that can block the entire universe and even the entire timeline in less than a century."
"Do you know how dangerous this is? The reason I haven't shown myself for so many years is because I'm worried that it will study my data and disrupt the balance between the wasteland and other worlds."
"The balance was already broken long ago. If it weren't for it, I wouldn't even be standing here discussing these things with you now," Tang Zijun said seriously. "You know better than I do how dangerous nightmares are. At least in my eyes, they are far more dangerous than the Gods of the Epochs."
"You..." Scáthach opened her mouth, but her tone softened considerably. "Aren't you afraid that after the Gods of the Ages finish their research, they'll turn around and use similar methods against you, or even defect to the Nightmare's side?"
Upon hearing this, Tang Zijun did not answer immediately, but instead said softly, "I ask you, what was the original intention of the gods in creating the wasteland world?" "To create a world uncorrupted by supernatural energy and nightmares."
"Is there any supernatural energy in that wasteland?"
"No, no..."
"Do you really think that a corpse that has lost its divine status can bring the laws of extraordinary abilities to the wasteland world?"
"Won't"
"One last question."
Tang Zijun raised her head slightly and slowly spoke.
"After I restricted the timeline of the wasteland world, even if the gods of the era did manage to discover something from Ilúvatar, do you think it, with just a bunch of data and knowledge, could threaten us?"
Scáthach's red lips parted slightly as she stared blankly at Tang Zijun in front of her.
After a long while, she nodded slightly.
I understand now. Perhaps, this really is an opportunity.
